How about this for a PPV event: Canelo Alvarez vs. Victor Ortiz?
Is it just me, or wouldn’t this be an action packed, Mexican star vs. Emerging Mexican American star, extravaganza? And you know Oscar would love it, since it’ll be an all Golden Boy Promotion since both are in his stable. Besides being action packed, you’ll know for sure that the winner is the real deal and the loser is potentially overhyped. And I think this could work, since Ortiz came into the ring against Berto at 161lbs.
How about no,a relatively unproven Jr middleweight Alvarez Vs a first fight at welterweight Ortiz that on the back of one performance you deem to be PPV worthy. I am not against PPV events but I think there are at times,far too many that I would be happy to watch but not go out my way and pay to watch.
In order to make this more of a PPV deal you need to mention the undercards you would propose as they could be the make or break fights when trying to sell it.
Some think Ortiz was practically classed as a bum this time last week (not by me), you cant go from there to PPV in the space of a few days in my opinion.Are you proposing the fight at catchweight or would Alvarez get to face another welterweight at Jr middle?Ortiz comes in to the ring big for his weight category but regardless of that he has fought once at welter so shouldnt be expected to step up two weight classes in two straight fights.
I assure you that out of the demographic that you mention this fight would not get much interest outside of America.
PS Rhodes is going to beat Alvarez, you wouldnt promote Rhodes vs Ortiz as a PPV event so other than to exploit Mexican fight fans for their hard earned cash what would be the point in making this PPV?
