Why can’t Muslims have a united thingy like the Vatican?

One thing you should understand is that Islam is nothing like christianity.In christianity state and religion are two different things and can be kept apart.Thats how Vatican came into being.But in Islam,religion interfers with all matters of the state and cannot be kept apart from the government.Thats why Islam can have no spiritual center.
But Muslims are supposed to be united under one Khilafa,which was the case up to the Ottoman Empire.Khilafa no matter how disturbed it is is always better than having no khilafa at all.The West was aware of that and thats why they attacked the Ottoman Empire and we Muslims lost our center of unity.
