Spanish Culture Concepts

spanish culture concepts
Why must Americans learn Spanish?

I know there is no real answer, but i just want to hear some EDUCATED opinions (please no lame answers).

As far as I know, knowing basic concepts of the English language is a requirement for gaining citizenship here in the USA. In my opinion, knowing how to fluently speak English would be more beneficial than knowing Spanish. Although knowing Spanish would make it easier to learn other romance languages (i.e. French, Italian, etc. etc)

To me, the lack of effort in learning the English language shows an extreme stubbornness and laziness on the part of Hispanic immigrants. Being the descendant of Asian immigrants, I know first hand that many other cultures assimilate into the English-speaking, western civilization. However, Hispanics seem to feel differently. Assimilating does not require one to completely FORGET his/her culture or language, but to learn how to interact with the rest of the population.

Your opinions?

I don’t have an answer but I agree with you.
