Spanish Culture Greetings

spanish culture greetings
I NEED SPANISH HELP ASAP?

sooo, i need help with my spanish. i have an exam so please help me out :)

* The difference between borrowed words and cognates
* Hispanic culture
* True and false cognates
* Vowel sounds and alphabet pronunciation
* Greetings others
* Describing people and things

thank you soooo much

Well, in spanish you pronounce like is written, You dont have to change the pronunciation of the work according with the letters before or after.

Now vowels, you may be more specific because most words in spanish went from latin, then you may find the origins there but there are a lot.

About hispanic culture, wich culture do you want?, Spanish Culture, Mexican Culture, bolivian, peruvian, etc, we are a lot of countries with different cultures, I dont know wich one do you want.

Greetings, well equivalent

hello—hola
Good morining—-Buenos dias
Good afternoon—Buenas tardes
Good evening——Buenas noches
Good night———Buenas noches (also)

Now we don`t use “morning” like an informal (and quick) greeting, instead we only use “hola”
Now Good=Bueno (as you may noted already), but we say “buenos” or “buenas” because in spanish all substantives have a genre, they are male or female, and this include any substantive. I dont know the exact rule of this but for example days are male for that reason they are “buenos”, while afternoon are female, for that reason they are “buenas”. Is like irregular verbs in english but a lot more difficult.

Now the how are you? greeting

how=como
are=estas
you=tu (optional)

Well in english you conjugate the verbs the same for almost each person but in spanish you conjugate different for almost each one, then most of the time the person what you are talking about is implicit and you dont need it, some times is even redundant.

for example

how are you? = ¿como estas?

(yo estoy, tu estas, el esta, then you dont need youbecause its implicit)

how are you?=¿como estas tu?

is correct but “como estas” is a little better

How are you doing?= ¿como te va?

not exact translation but is equivalent because both are informal and “como lo estas haciendo” is not usual in spanish then you may confuse the listener

Now describing people again male and female rule applies

hair=cabello (male)
face=cara (female)
long=largo/larga

He has long hair = el tiene cabello largo
He has long face = el tiene cara larga
She is fat = ella es gorda
He is thin = el es delgado
She is tall = ella es alta
He is short = el es bajo
