Day of the Dead is celebrated by Mexicans. Families and friends pray and remember people who have died. It happens on November 1st and 2nd. People visit graves with gifts. The passed person’s favorite foods and drinks are put on an altar. From an Aztex Festival dedicated to The Lady of the Dead. It’s been celebrated for more than 2500 years. Children and infants are remembered on November 1st. Adults are remembered on November 2nd. November 1st is called Day of Innocents or Day of the Little Angels. November 2nd is called Day of the Dead. People believe that the dead persons’ souls visit them. They make altars to help them visit. Happy celebrations take place in remembrance. Graves are decorated with marigolds. Toys are brought for dead children. Drinks are brought for adults. Pillows and blankets are left to help them rest. In some parts of Mexico, some spend all night by the graves. Schools and offices have altars as well. Day of the Dead is now being celebrated in other places too.

La gente cree que el alma de las personas muertas las visitan. Ellos hacen altares para ayudarles a visitarlos. Felices celebraciones tienen lugar en el recuerdo. Las tubas están decoradas con flores. Los juguetes se compraron para los niños muertos. Bebidas son compradas para adultos. Almohadas y mantas se dejan para ayudarlos a descansar. En algunas partes de México, algunos pasan toda la noche en las tumbas. Las escuelas y oficinas tienen altares también. Ahora, el día de los muertos esta siendo celebrada también.
